"The Parable of the Hidden Treasure" is A Hidden Treasure

Matthew 13:44—another verse you never paid attention to.

"The Parable of the Hidden Treasure" is A Hidden Treasure

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
Matthew 13:44

Before we dive in, let’s first grasp a sense of the kingdom of heaven.

  • Jesus said, “First seek His kingdom and His righteousness and all of these will be added to you.”
  • He also said, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
  • In the Parable of Ten Minas, He said, “Occupy till I come.” (Luke 19:13)

Now, let’s meditate on these points:

  • “Your kingdom come” (to where?).
  • “Occupy (what?) till I come.”
  • “On earth as it is in heaven.”

So, could we comprehend it this way—

The kingdom of heaven comes as it is the will of God. As it comes, you seek that kingdom (which comes on earth as it is in heaven) and righteousness. Then all the (good) things you desire and need on earth will be added to you.

Here are two commands of God that most Christians are unwilling to live up to because they are difficult:

  • Occupy (the earth) till I come.
  • Replenish the earth, and subdue it. (Genesis 1: 28)

Jesus asks you to occupy, replenish, and subdue before He comes.

He never says, “Use Me to justify your laziness and idleness.”

On the contrary, He rebukes those “lazy, wicked” servants.

Laziness is wickedness—He made it clear.

If you’re able to receive this, you’re ready to receive the revelation of Matthew 13:44.

Now, Matthew 13:44.

Jesus said that a man found the kingdom of heaven, which is “a treasure hidden in a field”—

💡Pay very close attention to that analogy:

Why didn’t Jesus compare the kingdom of heaven to just “a hidden treasure” instead? Why did He mention the “field”?

đŸ˜±What’s more:

The man didn’t dig out the treasure right away; instead, he hid it again and went to sell all his possessions to buy the field.
