"The Parable of the Hidden Treasure" is A Hidden Treasure
Matthew 13:44âanother verse you never paid attention to.
âAgain, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.â
Matthew 13:44

Before we dive in, letâs first grasp a sense of the kingdom of heaven.
- Jesus said, âFirst seek His kingdom and His righteousness and all of these will be added to you.â
- He also said, âYour kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.â
- In the Parable of Ten Minas, He said, âOccupy till I come.â (Luke 19:13)
Now, letâs meditate on these points:
- âYour kingdom comeâ (to where?).
- âOccupy (what?) till I come.â
- âOn earth as it is in heaven.â
So, could we comprehend it this wayâ
The kingdom of heaven comes as it is the will of God. As it comes, you seek that kingdom (which comes on earth as it is in heaven) and righteousness. Then all the (good) things you desire and need on earth will be added to you.
Here are two commands of God that most Christians are unwilling to live up to because they are difficult:
- Occupy (the earth) till I come.
- Replenish the earth, and subdue it. (Genesis 1: 28)
Jesus asks you to occupy, replenish, and subdue before He comes.
He never says, âUse Me to justify your laziness and idleness.â
On the contrary, He rebukes those âlazy, wickedâ servants.
Laziness is wickednessâHe made it clear.
If youâre able to receive this, youâre ready to receive the revelation of Matthew 13:44.
For those of you who are hunger for understandings of Jesusâs parables, hereâs a podcast I strongly recommend:

Now, Matthew 13:44.
Jesus said that a man found the kingdom of heaven, which is âa treasure hidden in a fieldââ
đĄPay very close attention to that analogy:
Why didnât Jesus compare the kingdom of heaven to just âa hidden treasureâ instead? Why did He mention the âfieldâ?
đ±Whatâs more:
The man didnât dig out the treasure right away; instead, he hid it again and went to sell all his possessions to buy the field.
