Signs You Are In The Right Place vs. You Are Not
Counterintuitively, the difference is not subtle at all.
After years of constant relocation—moving upon calls, both before and after I was born again—I’ve discovered a pattern in discerning God’s will.
Though I call it “discernment,” the truth is, it really isn’t subtle. In fact, it’s day-and-night difference between the right place and the wrong place—just as the song in the Disney film Tangled (2010) sings:
Standing here, it’s all so clear
I’m where I’m meant to be
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different

- How do you know if God sent you to that place?
- How do you know whether it is your will or His will when it comes to relocation?
- How do you know if He wants you to move or stay?
Here, I won’t elaborate on the significance and power of physical location, but if you have any of these questions, I’m pretty sure this article is going to shed light on your decision-making.
In this article:
- Signs He did not send you to that place
- Signs He sent you to that place
⛔️Signs He did not send you to that place
“I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.” Jeremiah 23:21

Generally, without God’s presence, a place feels dry for you: spiritually, financially, and relationally.
No doors open. No destiny helpers. No significant relationships. No spiritual growth. Even your health and mood suffer.
Along with that dryness comes bizarre and constant spiritual attack that you can’t handle.
I talked about regional principalities in the past, which is the main reasons you can’t handle the spiritual attack from the principality of a place you are not sent to.
Not because you’re suddenly a sloppy, carnal, lukewarm Christian who can’t fight any battle—if that were true, you wouldn’t even be attacked.
But when you’re a threat to the kingdom of darkness, yet you’re in a place you were not sent to, you have no spiritual covering. You used to win battles because God was with you. Now He is not.
We see this in the Old Testament. The Israelites went up to take the Promised Land without the Lord and suffered great casualties. On the other hand, David inquired of the Lord each time before he went out to strike his enemy (2 Samuel 5:17–25).
Though the situation seemed similar, the timing had changed, and the Lord had different instructions for him. Because of David’s obedience, humility, and trust in the Lord, he became a military legend in his time.
These 10 signs suggest that you should repent and pray for God’s redirection:
- No destiny helper, no sense of belonging, no people whom you can count on and hold you accountable.
- You feel particularly lonely in this place compared to the last place you lived.
- Financial struggle: reduced income, involuntary expense downgrades, and a downgrade in living condition or neighborhood. Though you always have enough because God always provides, you can’t shake the worry about how money will come next month.
- Aimlessness, anxiety, confusion, mental fog—waking up with mild depression and anxiety, with no excitement for the day. A lack of peace and joy. Enduring each day instead of living it.
- Low energy: lack of motivation for physical exercise and outdoor activity
- Feeling distant from God. Extreme difficulty fasting. A compromised prayer life—even though you always try to pray and read the Bible each day, you fail repeatedly.
- Dream a lot but can’t remember your dreams, except that they mostly feel frustrating and oppressing: such as missing a plan or train, trying to pass a school test, getting lost, etc.
- Constant “bad luck” that seems personally targeted at you: as soon as you go out, it rains—but when you bring an umbrella, it doesn’t. Bird poops on your head. Bugs surround you even if you just took a shower. Vehicles get stolen or won’t start normally. A prolonged rainy season—even floods—in a place that seldom rains. Unusual heat or extreme cold.
- One after another weird and hostile strangers come out of nowhere—especially during the first month or two after you move there.
Bizarre and lasting health conditions that cannot be traced through medical checkups (bloodwork, CT, X-ray, etc.), especially issues you have never had before in your life nor in your bloodline—such as allergies, eczema, infections, migraines, sudden unexplainable pain, or severe and sudden (not gradual) hair loss. This one is crucial. Never ignore the condition of your hair.
