Liars are Haters—Yes, There's A Connection between Lies and Hatred
This is my latest revelation from the Lord: All men lie—and merely knowing the truth will not deliver men from lying, for lies take root in hatred.
If you must use one word to describe the essence of God, Creation, and Christianity (at least how it supposed to be), which word would you choose?
Pause to think for a second before you move on.
In this article:
- One word says it all
- What does God say
- 12 revelations on lies and hatred—with my latest illustration on God, Satan, the righteous, the wicked, the truth, and lies.
One word says it all
That’s right. LOVE.
For out of love, God created the earth and heavens. Out of love, He sent His only Son to die for humanity. He creates out of love. He redeems out of love.
God is love.
Many of our problems, struggles, and pains boil down to one thing: a lack of love.
If only you love, you can forgive anyone, anything, like God.
You hold grudges, you are bitter, angry, self-pitying, insecure, because you do not love. If only you love, you can separate people from their sins, and you’ll look upon evils in grief, for they know not what they do.
God is close to the one who loves, not the one who is loved.
God favors those who give, not the one who gains.
For He is a giver and lover.
Jesus repeated at the last supper that His ultimate commandment is that they love one another.
I wrote in this post, "5 Signs of Self-Hatred," that
- whoever does not love God does not love himself;
- whoever does not love himself hates himself and cannot love others.
This week, God revealed something unexpected to me regarding liars and haters, and He told me that Satan is “the father of lies” because he is the father of hatred.
Satan is hatred.
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” John 8:44
What does God say
Now, here are four references from Proverbs. Take time to meditate on them before moving on to the next section, where I share my revelations.
No.1 Proverbs 10:18
“He who conceals hatred has lying lips. And he who spreads slander is a fool.”
No.4 Proverbs 17:4
“An evil doer listens to wicked lips; a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.”
No.2 Proverbs 26:24-26
“He who hates disguises it with his lips,
But he lays up deceit in his heart.
When he speaks graciously, do not believe him,
For there are seven abominations in his heart.
Though his hatred covers itself with guile,
His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly.”
No.3 Proverbs 26:28
“A lying tongue hates those it crushes,
And a flattering mouth works ruin.”
Very often, it’s not weakness but wickedness.
It’s not a lack of discernment, but a lack of integrity.

He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.” John 8:47
