Are You "Chosen" Or Do You Have A Spirit of Rejection?
Let there be no darkness in you to hold the shadow of anyone.
Many “chosen one” channels on YouTube talk about the signs of being a “chosen one.” And this is the sign they all agree on: being hated and rejected by other people.
Is that true?
Yes—but not vice versa.
People who have a spirit of rejection are also rejected.
So today if you clicked in with a spirit of rejection, make sure you don’t leave with that demon.

In this article:
- A “chosen one” is mostly born chosen
- Chosen one vs. Spirit of rejection
- Deliverance from the spirit of rejection
A “chosen one” is mostly born chosen
Before we elaborate on our topic today, let me first address the “chosen one” issue.
Jesus said, “Many are called, few are chosen.”
He also said, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you.”
Are all “Christians” chosen?
So some people believe all “Christians” are chosen, while others believe only a very few Christians are chosen.
Both are true—it depends on how you define “Christians.”
Remember He said only to the Twelve, “It is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.”
Not everyone who confesses with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord is a Christian. Rather, only those who are born again, baptized in and sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the Day of Judgment, and personally known by the Lord Himself are true “Christians.”
So all true Christians are chosen.
The statement that says “only a few Christians are chosen” defines “Christians” as anyone who considers themselves a Christian but is not one.
Two types of “chosen”
However, most YouTube “chosen one” channels aren’t discussing the demographics of the chosen in this way. They are talking about being chosen as “born chosen.”
I once wrote a hypothesis on “the saved, the called, and the chosen,” but now I want to revise some of the theories I previously held.
In that article, I didn’t clarify two types of “chosen” —
- “born chosen”, aka “chosen to be called”
- “called to be chosen”
In most cases, a chosen person is born chosen, and then, at a certain age, he or she is called by God. That person gives his or her life to Christ and walks into a destiny centered on Him.
Now, we will discuss the 2nd type—“called to be chosen.”
When you’re saved, you are also called:
“Many are called, few are chosen.”
My understanding is this: Many people (and eventually, all people) will hear the gospel preached, but only a few of them are chosen—and only those chosen ones will answer the call.
Derek Prince said that when we are saved, we are also called. This means you can be saved yet not answer your calling. And because you did not answer the calling, you are not chosen—because (1) you were not chosen before birth and therefore lack what it takes to answer the call, and (2) you also rejected the opportunity to be chosen after fulfilling the call.
So the fact that you answer your calling is evidence that you were born chosen.
Chosen to be called (Born chosen) vs. Called to be chosen
Many people quote this verse from Jeremiah:
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
This is not speaking about just anyone, but specifically about a person born chosen. Yet many people contradict this biblical principle—Many are called, few are chosen—so they do not offend anyone:
Most people are NOT chosen—whether we are talking about the “chosen to be called” or “called to be chosen.”
If God knew everyone before they were born, how could Jesus say to many who did great works in His name on that day, “I never knew you”?
If God knew everyone, why would He search throughout the earth for someone who is fully committed to Him, since He already knows who is committed? He searched because He was looking for a man who was not born chosen, so after this man answers the call, He might choose him.
The case is different when God calls someone born chosen. He asked Isaiah one-on-one, as if He were speaking to a crowd of men: “Who will go for Us?” And Isaiah answered, “Here I am. Send me.”
Isaiah answered because he was known before he was formed, and God knew that a chosen one would answer His call—because He already gave him all it takes.
Greatness is the significance of being chosen:
Now that we’ve discussed the definition of being “chosen,” what is the significance of it? How does it benefit me? What does it even mean?
For those of you who haven’t exited out of offense yet, this is your reward:
A chosen one is not chosen for his own benefit; he is chosen for the benefit of others—for to whom much is given, much is required.
Being chosen means being chosen for greatness.
Greatness in the Kingdom of God is measured by the number of people you bless and the depth of the blessings you give them.
It’s not about how much you gain by being chosen—it’s about how much you are able to give.
Chosen one vs. Spirit of rejection
People who have a spirit of rejection often think they are “introverts” and are “serving others,” when they suffer from that spirit, which causes:
- people-avoiding
- people-pleasing, and
- people-hating all at the same time.
The spirit of rejection becomes self-destruction on steroids when it collaborates with pride. It grows into hatred, anger, resentment, and rebellion. They take pleasure in rejecting others so they will never be rejected again.

I know it’s comforting to attribute the cause of rejection to your “chosen-ness,” but if you are honest, that only adds pride and bitterness to yourself. On top of that, it does not set you free.
Here we are comparing it with the “born chosen” type. I can’t say that if you have the spirit of rejection, then you’re not born chosen. The point is to make sure you stop ignoring and tolerating the demon.
10 signs for discernment:
Being loved and favored:
Chosen ones aren’t just hated and rejected. They are also loved and favored—just like Jesus, Joseph, David.
A demonic spirit of rejection does not produce any positive impact in a person’s life.
Reasons of being hated and rejected:
Chosen ones are hated and rejected for no reason (John 15:25)—again, just like Jesus, Joseph, and David.
But a demonic spirit of rejection causes a person to see the world and other people through a negative filter, leading them to expect rejection and disappointment subconsciously. What you expect often unfolds accordingly. As a result, a person with a spirit of rejection keeps affirming their own negative thoughts.
Self-respect:
Chosen ones are kind but not necessarily nice. They will go the distance to help someone, but once you cross their boundaries, you can expect to see them again only in heaven.
A spirit of rejection often causes people-pleasing without self-respect or boundaries. On the extreme opposite, it puffs the person up and manifests as narcissism.
External validations
Chosen ones don’t need constant validation—this is one of the key signs of a person born chosen.
On the extreme opposite, a spirit of rejection feeds on validation, no matter how self-assured they appear.
Childhood:
Chosen ones often have bizarre childhood experiences that don’t make sense until they are called and grow in spiritual knowledge. Some could have died but always survived because of the mark of God—likewise, they were attacked way before they manifest, also because of the mark of God.
A spirit of rejection mostly enters a person through childhood trauma or even prenatal trauma, such as an attempted abortion. When a child is considered inconvenient at conception—even if the parents never express it—the child may still be born with this spirit. One of the most common entry points is a father wound: when a child grows up lacking affirmation from the father. It could also be transferred to the baby from a mother who struggles with rejection. In short, the child grows up feeling unwanted, unloved, and lonely.
Isolation:
Chosen ones experience isolation by the will of God and come out leveled up.
A spirit of rejection, however, causes a person to isolate themselves out of fear of rejection, especially when they aren’t doing well. Instead of asking for help, they even ghost people who reach out. (“He that separateth himself seeketh his own desire, and rageth against all sound wisdom.” Proverbs 18:1.)
Both may appear introverted, but chosen ones can also be socially friendly and enjoy being among people. A spirit of rejection often causes insecurity while socializing and overthinking afterward.
Observation:
Chosen ones are observant; their energy and focus are outward. This is why they are gifted in leading and serving.
A spirit of rejection makes a person feel they are being observed, causing them to behave self-consciously and performatively. Their focus turns inward, and as a result, they are their own energy-sucking vampire.
Capacity of love:
Chosen ones are gifted in love. They are able to love first and to love more. They have a greater capacity for love than most people even before they are saved.
A spirit of rejection, however, limits the capacity to love to loving only when they are loved. And even when they are loved, they still doubt it.
Facing evil:
Chosen ones hate evil with everything in them, just as God does. They rarely tolerate even an appearance of evil. (“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22)
A spirit of rejection, however, causes a person to remain silent and passive in the face of evil. If you call them out, they will twist things (like Scriptures) up to justify themselves (and will attack you for being judgmental and unloving).
Spirituality:
Chosen ones are born spiritual and often exhibit spiritual gifts before they are called. They are dreamers and seers even before they fully understand what that means. God begins speaking through them even before they officially dedicate their lives to Christ.
A spirit of rejection can manifest as rebellion and may lead a person into occult practices—such as witchcraft, horoscopes, Ouija boards, drugs, or psychedelics. (“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” 1 Samuel 15:23)

Deliverance from the spirit of rejection
A spirit of rejection causes real pain. This pain comes from trying to earn approval and validation while subconsciously expecting disapproval and rejection—then reaffirming that subconscious belief.
Parenting and childhood are the main entry for the spirit of rejection. A child cannot love unless they are first loved—and he must know he is loved. So while a person with the spirit of rejection feels unloved and unwanted, they also lack the ability to love.
What a cycle of despair—if you aren’t loved and also can’t love, what joy is left in life?
Spirit of rejection is also a STD
Can a spirit of rejection be transferred through a sexual relationship?
It certainly can—just as it can pass from mother to child.
If you date someone with a spirit of rejection, even if you did not carry this spirit before, this “sexually transmitted demon” (STD) can bind you. It might not manifest until the relationship ends. People who have a spirit of rejection often hurry to dump their partners first—or they are extremely clingy.
Being rejected by someone who once professed love can be just as painful as parental rejection. Many heartbroken people “moves on” with this spirit of rejection, living in the shadow of their former partner’s opinions.
This can manifest “positively” as workaholism, obsessive exercise and dieting, or plastic surgery addiction. Believe it or not, many narcissists and sociopaths are shaped this way.
How it causes rejections in your life
A spirit of rejection does NOT cause you to be rejected.
Instead, it makes you feel rejected, less than, ignored, mocked, or disrespected. Eventually, this feeling of rejection manifests and reaffirms that belief—and the cycle repeats over and over.
How can we be delivered from this spirit? As complicated as all the symptoms and diagnoses sound, the solution is incredibly simple:
By faith.
When Jesus became sin on the cross, He was rejected by men and by God.
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
God rejected men for our sins, and Jesus paid the price. Through faith in Christ, you are accepted by the Father into His family, as His child.
No rejection from men can counteract the acceptance of God.
Jesus bore all our shame, guilt, and rejection, and all of it was crucified with Him on the cross. As long as you believe, no demon nor principality can hold you back, for the cost of sin has been paid in full by His blood.
A proclamation to deliver yourself from the spirit of rejection by faith:
I’ve been washed clean in the blood of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, who was crucified on the cross for my sins and was resurrected on the third day. Death has no sting for me; guilt, shame, and rejection have no place in my life, for I am a child of God. He has received me as His own, and no rejection from men counts, and no past can sabotage His will for me. I am made perfect as I surrender to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for He is perfect, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. No longer am I at the mercy of men, but I am redeemed by the grace of God and live in the favor of God. No door He opens for me can be shut by men; no door He shuts for me can be reopened by men. All rejections are His divine protection. Because He chose me, I am able to repent and be saved. All rejections toward His chosen ones are mere redirection. I thank Him for straightening my path and stopping me from wasting time and energy on the wrong person, in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing. No weapon formed against me shall prosper; every tongue that rises against me I shall condemn. He directed me to this moment of surrender, that I may know Him and know how perfectly He loves me. Now, because He first loved me, I am able to love—not because others deserve it, just as I did not deserve the love of God, but because I am able—just as He is able, for He is love.
Lord Jesus, thank You, thank You, thank You. I praise You for this amazing life on earth and the hope of eternal life with You. Thank You, Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Yes! Jesus!
Read it out loud as many times as you are filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit.
I thank God for His love, sacrifice, and deliverance that He has given you in Jesus’s name, Amen!
“The time of our love
is a glistening dead sea
Your part has ended in light
and I have no darkness in me
to hold your shadow”
Pier Paolo Pasolini
